Weight loss. Where do you start?
by Chris Nizzi on November 30th, 2009
The topic of weight loss is emerging to be one of my life’s more persistent issues! The extra weight is not a huge problem. I simply don’t want the extra inches around my middle. Not much weight to lose or so I naively thought!
I cook food for people’s dinner parties and occasionally functions. So I continually taste and try food before it’s served. On top of that, I’m always experimenting with food to find new combinations of tastes, textures and flavours. None of which help keeping weight down!
So like most people, I looked for a quick fix. Naturally the first place I looked for a solution to weight loss was the Internet.
The volume of available advice regarding weight loss is incredible and seems to vary from common sense to sublimely ridiculous and in some cases, contradictory.
There seem to be diet pills for everything! All able to fix your particular weight loss issue in 10 days or less!
So, I’ve started in earnest to look at weight loss and find some simple solutions. Weight loss cannot be that complicated although I’m sure that there isn’t a single solution that meets everybodies needs.
A simple weight loss theory?
So my journey begins with a simple theory which really is stating the obvious!
If we consume more calories than we use, the excess turns into fat which most of us seem to have a lot of difficulty losing once it’s established. Hence the weight loss issue.
On the other hand, if we strike a balance between our intake and usage of calories, we maintain the status quo. Our weight doesn’t particularly go up or down.
All seems quite sensible so far. The question is how do we achieve sufficient weight loss to get to a recommended weight or one we are happy to live with maintain?
Finding answers to the weight loss question
So in terms of weight loss, where do we go from here?
Well, I’m going to look at what’s on offer in the weight loss world to see what seems to make sense and what doesn’t. I’ll post the results here so you can make up your own mind.
I’m sure there’s more than one answer to the weight loss question. I’m going to start with Green tea which seems to have many health benefits in addition to promoting weight loss!
